When The Uncertainty Feels Too Much

The stress has been sitting in my chest like a weight I can’t quite shake.

Maybe you’ve felt it too.

A part of me feels like I’m back home in the Texas Panhandle, watching a storm roll in. Dark clouds pressing down, the wind picking up, animals going quiet.

I’m not quite sure if this storm is going to bring the rain my dad has been praying for…. or if it will produce baseball-sized hail and tornadoes that will rip everything apart.

Maybe I’m being extreme, but this is how I kind of feel in the moment of life that we are in.

The volatility in our country. The uncertainty hanging in the air.

So many of us are walking through life braced for impact. And because of that, it’s easy to spiral. To start doom-scrolling.

To live on edge, trying to predict what’s coming next so maybe, just maybe, it won’t catch us off guard.

It’s also easy to forget how much that kind of living costs us.

Don’t get me wrong—I believe in being informed.I believe in staying engaged.

I believe in voting and standing up to injustice and being a part of the solution.

But I also know this: No amount of worry will change what happens tomorrow.

It only changes who we are today. And who we are today matters.

For our families.
For our teams.
For our own souls.

So I’ve been asking myself—what’s actually in my control right now?

I can’t control the storm, but I can control how I show up in the middle of it.

I can choose not to abandon myself.
I can pause when I feel the fear rising.
I can stop mid-spiral and return to my breath.
I can choose to protect my inner peace.

Yes, I can go outside, feel the wind or the sun or the coolness of the air, and remember that I’m still here. That life is still holding me.

Because the truth is, this moment matters. Not the one we’re trying to predict.

This one.

So let’s not forget to live it.

Let’s not spend all our energy imagining worst-case scenarios and miss the very real beauty unfolding right in front of us.

The presence you bring into this moment ripples. The steadiness you embody has impact.

And the peace you cultivate within yourself isn’t just for you—it becomes a refuge for others, too.

So take a moment today. Breathe deep.

Feel the ground under your feet.

Remember who you are and how much that matters.

The storm might still come. But you don’t have to be swept away by it.

Not today.

As always, I’m rooting for you. We’re in this together.
