Whatever It Takes, Keep An Open Heart
If I’ve learned anything in the last few decades of the ups and downs of my life, it’s this...
Winning in life is about keeping an open heart, no matter what comes.
We’ve all been there, right?
Life gives us plenty of reasons to close off. The heartbreaks. The betrayals. The moments when it feels like life has sucker-punched you in the gut.
It’s easy to slip into self-protection mode, to tell yourself it’s better to guard your heart than risk being hurt again.
For years, I did just that. I thought if I could just toughen up, I’d be safe.
But what I’ve learned, often painfully, is that closing off might protect you from the worst of life, but it also blocks you from the best of it.
When I walked away from the NFL and moved to Canada, I thought I was just looking for a fresh start.
Instead, I found a quiet invitation to open my heart again—to lean into vulnerability instead of armoring up.
I found myself leaning into vulnerability and spending more time in stillness than I ever had before. I wasn’t chasing a win anymore.
I was learning how to let life in.
And that’s the secret no one tells you about true success...
The life we crave, the deep connection and fulfillment we long for, is only accessible through an open heart.
It’s scary as hell.
It feels like standing in the middle of a storm without an umbrella, letting yourself be seen and felt, without knowing what will happen next.
But I promise you this—staying open, even when life gives you every reason not to, is where the magic happens.
It’s where joy meets you in unexpected places. It’s where love fills in the cracks.
It’s where you finally get to feel the fullness of being alive.
So, my invitation to you today: Keep your heart open, no matter what. Let it stretch and expand.
Because in the end, it’s not about how much you achieve. It’s about how open you’re willing to be.
With an open heart (and a lot of courage),
Caleb
